Jack Curtin's Clipper NBDs

For me, Jack Curtin is the type of skater who wasn't one of my absolute favorites when I first saw him skate. My introduction into skateboarding was through videos like Round Three, Opinion, Dying To Live & New Blood; so I was watching either ultra-tech skating or whole videos of guys skating big gaps and 20-stair rails. Once I got past that first phase of obsessing over how many times a board flipped in a line or how many stairs someone just frontside flipped (both styles of skating which are still cool in their own ways), I started appreciating people with more nuance to their skating; skaters like Jack. He has great style, his parts have always featured tasteful spot & trick selection, and he can seemingly do any trick switch. He's been consistently ripping for over a decade now and is still going strong.

I think that one benchmark of Jack Curtin's skating is to look at the NBDs he has gotten on the Clipper hubba, similar to how you can measure Andrew Reynolds's skating through a timeline of tricks he's gotten at Hollywood High & Wilshire. Between September 2003 and January 2013 (magazine publication dates - I realize that it can take a while for a photo to appear in print), Jack put down five NBD tricks at Clipper. Four of them were switch. Over the past couple of weeks, I was able to track down four of the five photos of these tricks in magazines in my personal collection. And, thanks to the Look Back Library at Familia HQ, I finally have the fifth and final scan I needed to make this post.

If you read through those two paragraphs above, thank you. And if you didn't, thank you anyways for checking out this blog. Jack's five NBDs as they appear in magazines:
