Danny Garcia - December 2010 interview

Danny's brief interview from the December 2010 issue of Skateboarder. Words by Jaime Owens and photos by John Bradford.

Therapeutic Purposes

This January 2007 The Skateboard Mag covers a skate trip through Southeast Asia with Robert Lopez-Mont, Danny Garcia, Jerry Hsu, Chico Brenes and Kevin Booker. Words by Matt Eversole and photos by Anthony Acosta.

North By Northwest: Habitation of the Northern Coast

This December 2005 Skateboarder article covers a Habitat Skateboards trip through northern California and Oregon, when they were starting to film for Inhabitants. Words and photos by John Bradford. I really like the photo of SBN's front blunt gap out on the last pages.

Junkyard Dogs

Mike Ballard and a few skaters took a brief respite from the struggles of shooting skate photos in the streets to shoot a junkyard feature for the July 2001 issue of Skateboarder. Steve Berra and JB Gillet also got the cover and Contents page, respectively, with photos from the same session.

Kidnapping, Debauchery and Brebic: Habitat in Mexico City

This article features coverage of Fred Gall, Tim O'Connor, Stefan Janoski, Danny Garcia, Kerry Getz and Guru Khalsa during a Habitat filming trip to Mexico City with Jonathan Mehring and Brennen Conroy. Mehring wrote the article, basing it around the unpredictable antics of Fred Gall's friend "Brebic", who I can only assume is Fred's alter ego when he's in party mode. I swear I had heard about him bring this up in another interview, but I couldn't find it.

The article overall is pretty wild. There's a Quiksilver ad in this same issue with a photo of Stefan getting a trick at a Mexico spot, which I am assuming was taken during the same trip.

Buenos Aires: Breakfast at Diego's

The article summary from the Contents of the May 2005 issue of Skateboarder:

Cover boy Jerry Hsu, Van Wastell, Danny Garcia, Anthony Pappalardo and Rob Pluhowski visit Diego Bucchieri in his homeland of Argentina. And while the tour starts off with maddening moments of misorganization at the Buenos Aires airport, it turns quite lovely in the end.

Words and photos by Jonathan Mehring.

Has This Thing Ruined Skateboarding?

Four skaters and one filmer weigh in on the pros and cons of filming for skate videos for an article in the April 2001 issue of Skateboarder.

In 2013, I wrote a college thesis about skate videos and media culture and used this article for it (thanks Eric for posting it and emailing me the bibliography information!)

Danny Garcia interview - January 2004 SLAP

In this interview, Danny talks about starting to play the guitar, his love of movie quotes, filming for Mosaic, and more. Words by Mark Whitely and photos by Seu Trinh.
