Conflicting Moral Values: Toy Machine's Good & Evil Tour

This December 2004 Skateboarder article covers a month-long filming trip & demo tour for Toy Machine's Good & Evil video. There's also a specific video that was made from this tour, which I didn't know about until I was searching for the link for the full-length. Words and B&W photography by Ed Templeton, and photos by John Bradford (his first Toy Machine tour!)

Jamie Thomas and Welcome To Hell

For the Cinematographer section of the March 2008 issue, Skateboarder's Adam Salo interviewed Jamie Thomas about what it was like to make one of the most influential skate videos of all-time: Toy Machine's Welcome To Hell. Most of this isn't obscure information, as Jamie has talked about it numerous times in interviews, but still an interesting read.

Lurkfest: Toy Machine Creeps Across The U.S.

This article, written by Ed Templeton, covers the two-week Toy Machine 2007 summer tour. It started on May 29 and concluded on June 14 and took the team through Denver, Kansas City, Des Moines, Minneapolis, Chicago and Nashville. John Bradford took all of the skate photos, with some incidentals by Ed included. I really enjoyed reading this when I first got it in the mail 15 years ago, and would occasionally revisit it over the years. I even remember using the Ed Templeton nosebluntslide photo for a school project (I took a picture of it with a Pentax K1000 for a photography class - my teacher wasn't impressed that I took a photo of an already-composed printed photograph).

Billy Marks interview - May 2004 Skateboarder

Billy was one of the first skaters to normalize flipping into rail & hubba tricks, and this issue of Skateboarder demonstrated that. In addition to the three flip-in tricks in this 12-page interview, he also kickflip backside 50-50'd a hubba for the cover and kickflip frontside 50-50'd another for a Fallen ad. I included all of these below, in addition to a Toy Machine ad of him. All photos were shot by Shigeo, except there's no credit given for the Toy ad.

Ten Years of Templeton

This is a 20-page feature in the July 2001 issue of Thrasher highlighting the first 10+ years of Ed Templeton's career. It's a pretty in-depth interview, and includes short pieces from his wife Deanna and his longtime friend Geoff Rowley. It's an interesting piece, and I highly recommend it for any fans of Ed and/or Toy Machine.

Tour Machine: Filming for Good and Evil

This article was put together by Jon Humphries and is a culmination of three separate trips he went on with the Toy Machine crew, spanning 50 states and traveling to another country.(Spain).
