Howl: Marquis Preston

The sequence of Marquis Preston's kickflip crook on a famous Melbourne wall rail, shot by Brian Gaberman and published for the Howl section in the December 2007 issue of Skateboarder. According to the caption, Marquis had to wax the wall so his shoe would slide against it.

You can see the clip here.

How It Went Down: UCI Hubba & Rail

The How It Went Down write-up for the UCI hubba and rails, written by Adam Salo for the December 2007 issue of Skateboarder. I wonder if this spot has the same meaning to younger skaters who've grown up seeing it skated by Braden Hoban, Jamie Foy and Tiago Lemos, as it did to skaters when this article was written.

Milestone: Stefan Janoski

A piece about Stefan Janoski put together by Mike Munzenrider, with photos by Jeff Landi. Mike & Stefan talk about growing up in Vacaville, growing up skating in San Francisco, and why he likes living in Sacremento. I also included the switch flip crooks on a handrail ad, which I remember blowing a lot of minds at the time it came out.

New Jack: Steve Durante

The first time I ever saw footage of Steve Durante was in the Habitat Origin video, where he ended his section in the video with a switch 360 flip switch 5-0 on a ledge - I became an instant fan. As I was typing up this post, I also remembered that he had a Who's Hot in the December 2007 Skateboarder - I posted it below the New Jack interview.

Lizard King interview - December 2007 Skateboarder

This is the interview where Lizard King infamously had his phone number be published, which led to his phone getting blown up with calls and texts until he had to change his number 12 days later, according to his follow-up interview in the February 2008 issue. Words and photos by Shad Lambert, and the follow-up is posted below as well.
