Spike Jonze's 9 Most Memorable Moments While Filming Video Days

Below are Spike Jonze's nine most memorable moments while filming for Video Days, as told to Aaron Meza. This was published in the January 2003 issue of Skateboarder. 

For anybody keeping count, this is my 600th post on this blog. Never thought I'd get this far, and no plans of stopping anytime soon - there's still a lot more I want to scan and post. I appreciate all of the feedback and encouragement I have received from all of you - this has been a nice opportunity for me to feel like I am contributing to skateboarding culture in a small way. Video Days: 20th Anniversary Reunion (repost)

One of the first things I uploaded to this blog two years ago was the Video Days 20th Anniversary article that was published in the February/March 2011 Skateboarder (the first issue when they switched to the oversized format and published 6 issues/year). I've since refined how I scan magazines, and rescanned this article over the course of last week (scanning the oversized issues is tedious). Below are the new scans. Words by Jaime Owens, and photos by Jaime & many others. As I mentioned two years ago, I also appreciate the irony of scanning and posting an article that includes scans from Chrome Ball Incident - very meta.

Guy had the cover of this same issue, getting a new trick at the same spot he skated for his Video Days ender. The still was shot by Ben Colen, and the sequence that was included inside of the cover was shot by John Bradford.

Video Days: 20th Anniversary Reunion

Below is the article Jaime Owens put together to commemorate the 20th anniversary of Video Days. It appeared in the February/March 2011 issue of Skateboarder, which was the first issue of the mag when it was reformatted to be bigger and to come out every other month rather than monthly. I remember being incredibly stoked on this article when I first read it. Hearing Jaime talk about the making of it on his Nine Club interview made me want to scan it in so that anyone who hadn't read it but had heard about it on the podcast could take a look at it. 

It's very late and I need to get to sleep, so I haven't labelled any of the photographer credits yet. I just wanted to get the scans up as soon as possible.

Also, the archival ads posted throughout this article were provided by chromeballincident - I am fully appreciating the irony of scanning a magazine article that has scans of older magazine ads and articles in it.
