The Curse of [Puerto] Rico

Written by Chris Nieratko and photographed by Jonathan Mehring, this article was published in the March 2006 issue of Skateboarder and features some of the Zoo York team at the time.

Zered Going Home - March 2005 interview

Zered Bassett and Ben Colen visited Dr. Z's hometown of Cape Cod, Massachusetts to get photos for his feature interview in the March 2005 issue of Skateboarder, which was published shortly after he had turned pro for the revamped Zoo York team. He talks about growing up playing hockey, dealing with the harsh winters and skating in the city - he even got tricks at spots he'd only dreamed of skating when he was younger. Great interview concept of an even greater skater. Words by Brian Peech.

Unbreakable in Asia: Zoo York in Hong Kong

This June 2003 Skateboarder article covers a two-week trip the Zoo York team took to Hong Kong during the Chinese New Year earlier in the year. Words by Mackenzie Eisenhour and photos by Giovanni Reda.

The child's body was not censored in the print magazine...

All Hopped Up: Red Bull's Seek & Destroy Contest

This 20-page article covers the first Red Bull Seek & Destroy contest, "a street contest where skaters judge themselves". According to the article's author, Chris Nieratko, this was originally supposed to be an idea for a Big Brother feature, but the magazine folded before it could be executed. Photos by Brian Gaberman and Ben Colen.

Hawaiian Thanksgiving (with a serving of Red Bull)

This article covers a 10-day trip trip the Red Bull team took to Maui and Ohau in November 2007 written by Chris Nieratko and photographed by Ben Colen. It includes a bit of a tasteless photo of Nieratko costumed as "Hitler On Vacation", but otherwise it's a nice feature with lots of well-taken skate photography.

On The Waterfront: Jonathan Mehring Photo Feature

This photo feature from the August 2007 issue of Skateboarder was inspired by Mehring wanting to intentionally stay home in New York and shoot photos there, taking a break from always being on a trip and shooting photos somewhere else. There's some excellent shots in this with iconic landmarks in the background, Puleo's back tail photo being my favorite.

Men at Work: Zered Bassett & Joey Pepper interviews

This double feature was published in the February/March 2013 issue of Skateboarder. At this time Zered had just joined Joey at Expedition after getting kicked off of Zoo York, one of the things he talks about in this piece amongst other things. I've always been a fan of his skating after seeing State Of Mind, and was happy to see him get a new sponsor so quickly after harshly getting the boot from Zoo. I remember really liking the concept & graphics for this article too - another nice way to send off the last print issue of my favorite skate mag. Words by Christian Senrud and photos by Jonathan Mehring.

Zoo York: Eastern European Vacation

A Ben Colen-authored (and photographed) article about a trip he took through Eastern Europe with the Zoo York team in 2004, published in the January 2005 issue of Skateboarder
