Down Under (the influence of) Australia
An article featuring many Globe Shoes riders of the time getting tricks at Australian spots, while Brian Peech investigates why the country is such an appealing place for skateboarders. Matt Mumford - June 2007 interview
Below is a brief interview Matt Mumford did with Skateboarder for their June 2007 issue. Words by Adam Salo and photos by Shigeo, Andrew Mapstone, and Steve Gourlay. I remember seeing this issue for the first time at the public library sometime in 2007 and being awestruck by the wallride shove out sequence - it was the first time I'd seen anything like that.
The Long Way Home: $lave California Coast Trip
John Rattray wrote an article of a secondhand account (he wasn't actually there) of a trip that the $lave Skateboards team took in October 2011 that appeared in the June/July 2012 issue of Skateboarder. There's plenty of great photos (shot by Brendan Klein) of Dicola, Pat Burke, Ben Raybourn and more, and the layout matches $lave's aesthetic, all which make for a really cool article. An added bonus is a sequence in the Extra section at the end of this mag of Ben narrowly escaping a brutal slam on one of his backside 50-50 attempts.
