Arto's cover tricks in Mind Field

Two of Arto Saari's tricks in his Mind Field part were also cover photos. The back lip on the Frost Middle School rail was on the front of the December 2008 issue of The Skateboard Mag, and the switch back 180 into the ditch appeared three months later on the March 2009 cover of Skateboarder. Both photos taken by Ryan Allan.

TWS Pro Spotlight: AVE

I read Anthony Van Engelen's April 2009 Pro Spotlight interview for the first time on the chromeball incident blog, and it has stuck with me ever since then. A few months ago, I finally ordered a physical copy of the issue from Look Back Library for my own collection and decided recently that I also want the interview on my blog, since it meant so much to me when I first read it. I'll let Eric Swisher's words preface the interview: "A very different Anthony Van Engelen re-emerges from the Mind Field and comes clean about getting clean in his second Spotlight. Never one for nonsense, this is AVE pulling no punches as he describes his descent into a world where most never comeback. An inspiring read."

AVE also got the cover of this issue.

Behind The Mind's Eye: Greg Hunt interview

This is the second of three features within the April 2009 issue of Transworld that focus on the people around the making of Alien Workshop's 2009 Mind Field video. It gives a great behind-the-scenes look on the making of one of the most influential skate videos of the 2000s. Words and photos by Mike O'Meally.

Jason Dill interview - April 2009 TWS

The April 2009 issue of Transworld had three features directly related to the release of the long awaited Alien Workshop Mind Field video, and this 8-page interview with Dill was one of them. Not unexpectedly, it's an interesting read, and the photos are great. Words by Oliver Barton and photos by Mike O'Meally.
