Hawaiian Thanksgiving (with a serving of Red Bull)
This article covers a 10-day trip trip the Red Bull team took to Maui and Ohau in November 2007 written by Chris Nieratko and photographed by Ben Colen. It includes a bit of a tasteless photo of Nieratko costumed as "Hitler On Vacation", but otherwise it's a nice feature with lots of well-taken skate photography.
Bryce Kanights and Sick Boys
Skateboarder's Keir Johnson interviews Bryce Kanights about Mike McEntire's 1988 classic Sick Boys for the April 2008 Cinematographer article.

The Four Horsemen of the Trans Siberian Railroad - April 2008 Skateboarder
According to Jonathan Mehring (the author and photographer for this article), this trip was a large undertaking that took roughly two years to put together. The general premise was to take the Trans-Siberian Railway "from Europe to Moscow, across Siberia, through Mongolia [and] finally ending in Beijing" with a few travel buddies to find spots and explore the region. Not a place you'd immediately expect to find a bunch of things to skate, but as you can see from the photos, that was not the case. This was also the same trip that Keegan Sauder got his dirt-track kickflip on, which got on the cover of this issue and was one of his last tricks in his Strange World part.
Chris Pfanner "Question Mark" article - April 2008 The Skateboard Mag
A brief piece on then-up-and-coming Austrian ripper Chris Pfanner, which includes a sequence of his Caballerial down the Santa Monica triple set. There's some stories from friends and pros talking about how good he is and how good he will become at skateboarding. I guess they were right.

Midwest-ness in the April 2008 The Skateboard Mag
The first few pages of the April 2008 issue of The Skateboard Mag is peppered with Midwest skateboarders and spots, and as a lifelong Midwesterner, it's my self-appointed job to make everyone aware of it.
First, the Contents section has a photo of Chicago's Steve Fauser doing a back disaster on a riverside ditch spot in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Next is Marius Syvanen nosebluntsliding a spot at the University of Minnesota that has been showing up a lot in videos (mostly local) over the past few years. Photo appears in the Initial Remarks section.

Finally, two of the the skaters, spots and photographers in the Exposed section of the magazine are Midwestern. Sam McGuire has brief but really cool "four seasons" piece with Iowa City's Peter Madsen that really captures what it's like being a skateboarder in the Upper Midwest...
...and Andrew Hutchison has a brief piece about rolling around with Seth McCallum and his vegetable oil-fueled truck, which also doubled as a skate spot.
Marquis Preston's Emerica ads
Below are the only two ads that Marquis Preston had while he was on Emerica. His Stay Gold part was so good, and is a favorite for many that I have talked to. Sounds like he had some larger stuff going on in his life which prompted his exit from the skate industry, and I hope he's doing well now.

Emerica team photo ads, from 2002 to 2009
It's really interesting to see these pictures as the years go by: who stays and who leaves, seeing the young guys grow up, etc. All of these were taken from the back covers of Skateboarder issues, which means that there may be more Emerica team photos out there that I don't have or didn't find yet. Send them my way if you find some.
