Deluxe's, Girl's, and Zero's TFs
This October 2007 Skateboarder article brings you behind the doors of the private skateparks for the Deluxe, Girl and Zero companies during that time. I'll bet it was a bigger deal to see these photos in a time before The Berrics introduced regular online skatepark content. The article was put together by Alex Klein, with photos taken by Dave Chami.
Eric Koston: A Video History (2003)
Since the 20th anniversary celebration of Yeah Right! is today, I figured it would be appropriate to scan & post this article of Koston's peers commenting on the video parts he had over the years, accompanied with photos of some of the best tricks from his part in YR!. This was published in the August 2003 issue of Transworld, right around when the legendary 2003 video was released. Eric's part is still one of my favorite video parts ever, and I imagine that people who looked through this article in 2003 reacted similarly to how I did when I saw the photos in Andrew Reynolds' November 2010 TSM interview right when Stay Gold premiered.
I believe all of the photos in this were taken by Atiba, and I'm really happy with how well they scanned.
Tony Ferguson's backside 360 off of the elevated kicker
This Girl ad appears in the back of the January/February 2001 issue of Skateboarder. No photo credit is given in the ad, but The No Comply Network says it was Reda in this post. This is Tony's first trick in the Girl montage in Yeah Right!, and one of my favorite clips of his ever. Nine years later, he was featured in the Lost & Found section of the January 2010 issue of Skateboarder, where Mike Sinclair briefly caught up with him to see what he had been up to since his retirement from pro skating shortly after Yeah Right! came out. Girl & Chocolate Euro Blitz tour - September/October 2000
This article (written by Aaron Meza and photographed by Mike O'Meally) documents a three-week tour through Europe with some of the Girl & Chocolate team members of the time. There's a bonus sequence of Koston from the tour that appears in the Contents section, which I included in here as well.
Cory Kennedy is very good
I recently came across these three Cory Kennedy ads that came out in the lead-up to 2012's Pretty Sweet video, and was reminded again of how good his skating was at that time. I don't think I've seen anyone else do these three tricks since, although, I wouldn't be surprised if Torey Pudwill has done it at some point. If I'm wrong and others have done these, please let me know.
