The Riviera (October 2003 Skateboarder)
This article documents a trip to the French Riviera which was originally planned in order to photograph & film Bastien Salabanzi on his home turf. Plans changed, but it still ended being a productive trip for all, with three filmers, one photographer (Oliver Barton) and one wordsmith (Mackenzie Eisenhour) thoroughly documenting the entire trip. The culmination is 18 pages of awesome stories and photos of an amalgamation of creative skateboarders.
Two 2003 AVE tricks on AVE's bench
Here are two AVE sequences I found in two different 2003 issues of SLAP, taken from the same exact angle on the same spot. The switch back nosegrind revert is from February 2003, and the switch front crook fakie flip out is from the October 2003 issue. Both sequences were taken by Lance Dawes.
Jason Lee & Chris Pastras announcing the restart of Stereo Skateboards
In the October 2003 issue of Skateboarder, Aaron Meza interviews Jason Lee and Chris Pastras about them restarting Stereo Skateboards after a 3-year hiatus (7 years for Jason, who left the company in 1996). They also got a few tricks for the article (all photos by Mike O'Meally), and after 2 or 3 days of trying, Jason got his 360 flips back.
Tom Penny's 2003 Divulge Interview
This 2-page interview appears in the October 2003 issue of Skateboarder. In it, Tom talks about becoming a father, being sober, and leaving the United States in 1996 and temporarily falling off the map for a bit.
No credit is given for the interview; I'm going to assume it was done by Meza.

Rodrigo Tx - hardflip back lip on the LA High rail
Rodrigo Tx is really fucking good on a skateboard and I feel was at the forefront of tech street skating for at least a decade. Hardflip back lip on a handrail must have been crazy for readers to see when they first opened up the October 2003 issue of Skateboarder and saw this eS ad. Photo sequence by Atiba Jefferson.
Leo Romero in 2003
Not counting his Who's Hot from a 2002 Skateboarder, this is the earliest photo of Leo Romero that I have found in a magazine (so far). Ollie over the bar to front crooks off of a loading dock in LA. Photo by Shigeo. Appears in the Contents section of the October 2003 issue of Skateboarder.
