This enjoi ad is from a February 2011 issue of Transworld, published five months after Jerry's September 2010 Stay Gold meltdown ad, which I scanned from The Skateboard Mag & posted below as well. I believe Brian Gaberman photographed the Emerica ad.

Heath Kirchart - March 2000 Emerica ad

Below is the two-page Emerica ad of Heath's backside nosebluntslide at UCI, which I scanned from the March 2000 issue of SLAP. You can see Atiba shooting the sequence in the clip from Sight Unseen.

Hearts of Darkness: A Filmmaker's Apocalypse (Photos from Stay Gold)

Brian Gaberman put together a Hearts of Darkness-inspired interview with Jon Miner about the making of Stay Gold. As far as I can tell, Miner wasn't actually interviewed for this; Brian pulled quotes from the documentary and arranged them in a way to make Coppola's words sound like Jon's. I thought it was a pretty interesting concept. I also included the Emerica ad on the back cover of this issue, capturing Jerry Hsu in a full meltdown.

Bryan Herman's nosegrind stalefish

Most skaters have seen Bryan Herman's unorthodox Baker 3 ender, which was a frontside nosegrind stalefish on the Hollywood High 12-stair rail. What some skaters may not know is that he did that trick on at least three other rails, which all appeared as photos in magazines. Interestingly, I couldn't find a photo of the one he did on Hollywood High - if it exists, someone please let me know.

Leo Romero Turned Pro 18 Years Ago Today

I've been going through the early issues of The Skateboard Mag recently and just happened to come across this Festivus article in the July 2004 issue:

In it, Dave Swift notes the exact date that Leo Romero turned pro, which was April 24, 2004 (Fun fact: Kids In Emerica debuted on the same day.) He's been pro for 18 years and is still absolutely ripping, which is amazing, especially because a lot of his skating isn't low-impact. Congratulations, Leo!

Marquis Preston's Emerica ads

Below are the only two ads that Marquis Preston had while he was on Emerica.  His Stay Gold part was so good, and is a favorite for many that I have talked to. Sounds like he had some larger stuff going on in his life which prompted his exit from the skate industry, and I hope he's doing well now.
