The 100 Best Things In Skateboarding (July 2012)

For their 100th issue, the staff at The Skateboard Mag put together this list of what they believed were the 100 best things in skateboarding. Words by TSM staff, and photo credit can be seen within the images. I also included the issue's cover, which was shot by Atiba. You can read the May 2001 100 Things list that Skateboarder published here

Gareth Stehr interview - January 2005

New Zealand hucker Gareth Stehr had a short interview in the January 2005 issue of Skateboarder, where he discussed willingly hammering a nail through his hand, getting shot in the face with a BB gun by Josh Beagle, and all of the celebrities he saw after moving to Hollywood. Words by Shad Lambert, photos by him, Brian Gaberman and Jaime Owens. Gareth also got the Contents page photo in this issue, which I included below his interview.

Killing Cairo: Popwar trip to NYC

An August 2004 Popwar trip to New York City was documented in a long article written by Brian Gaberman for the January 2005 issue of Skateboarder. He also shot all of the photos. There's a couple of tricks down the Fish Gap here, including a backside flip by Raymond Molinar. 18 years later, Tyshawn Jones would backside flip up it.

The 100 Greatest Things About Skateboarding (May 2001)

This article appeared in the May 2001 issue of Skateboarder. I was originally going to post it in tandem with The 100 Best Things In Skateboarding feature from the July 2012 issue of The Skateboard Mag, but life got busy and I still haven't gotten around to scanning it. It's been a while since I've uploaded anything, and I've been sitting on this one for a while, so I'm going to put it up now while I have a little free time to do so. Words by Alex Klein and Aaron Meza. Photo captions should be visible in the pictures. I also included Meza's intro about the 100 Worst Things About Skateboarding. Additionally, after #37 there is a full-page mail-in survey that I included for posterity's sake.

Daily Ops: Steve Nesser

Steve lists five ways to cope with Minnesota winters in this December 2005 Daily Ops article. Photo most likely taken by Jonathan Mehring.

Fred Gall article - July 2005 TSM

Below is a brief 2005 article about the legendary Fred Gall, written by Dave Carnie and photos by Rodent. Just like every that involves Fred Gall, it's quite interesting, and the photos are great.

Dennis Does Paris: The Adidas Team in Gay Paree

*this is actually the 2nd time I've posted this article - I had forgotten to check if I'd already posted it when I did this one. Oh well. Didn't catch it until almost a year after the 2nd post, so I'm going to keep them both up.

This article from the May 2008 issue of Skateboarder covers an adidas trip to Paris, which produced a 9-minute DVD that was included in the issue. Tim O'Connor did the write-up, and Benjamin Deberdt took the photos (aside from a few incidentals by Bryce Kanights).

15 Things You Didn't Know About DC Shoes

This is the third-ever 15 Things article in Skateboarder, appearing in the October 2001 issue. I'm posting it as a small way of paying tribute to Ken Block, who started DC in 1995 with Damon Way which went on to become a very influential company in the skateboarding industry. Words by Aaron Meza and photo by Mike Blabac.

RIP Ken Block.
