Harold Hunter as Batman

Harold Hunter crooked grinds a barrier in a Batman suit. Photo by Giulio Cezere (pseudonym for Giovanni Reda?) This was published in the April 2005 issue of Skateboarder for a photo caption contest. I wasn't able to find the result from the contest in any future issues (though I didn't look especially hard).

Deluxe's, Girl's, and Zero's TFs

This October 2007 Skateboarder article brings you behind the doors of the private skateparks for the Deluxe, Girl and Zero companies during that time. I'll bet it was a bigger deal to see these photos in a time before The Berrics introduced regular online skatepark content. The article was put together by Alex Klein, with photos taken by Dave Chami.

Jake Johnson - wallie tailslide

This sequence was shot by Jonathan Mehring and appeared in the Howl section of the October 2007 issue of Skateboarder. As I have mentioned before, I started reading the mag at my public library before subscribing to it, and the October 2007 issue was the last one I had to read there before getting them in the mail. The memories of flipping through those issues at the library are still very fresh in my mind, and one of the images I remember most is this wallie tailslide. It was one of the first times that I thought that skateboarding was the coolest thing I'd ever seen. You can see the clip here.

Question Mark: Shaun Gregoire

A short feature on Shaun Gregoire from the May 2010 issue of The Skateboard Mag. Words by Paul Zitzer and photos by Rodent.

Mike Carroll - backside bigspin on the Van Owen bump

This sequence was shot by Ben Colen and appeared in the Focus section of the April 2005 issue of Skateboarder. I always liked how this trick looked in Mike's Fully Flared part.

Bulletproof Dreamers on the Road of Destiny: Deluxe's Endless Summer

This October 2007 Skateboarder article documents a Deluxe trip through the United States (although it's more like a Real trip; all but one of the riders were on that team). There's also a photo of a young James Hardy in this one. Words and photos by Giovanni Reda.

Texodus: Ipath battles the Lone Star State

This article from the April 2005 issue of Skateboarder documents a trip that the Ipath team took early in 2005 for a Texas Skate Jam Make-A-Wish event at Southside Skatepark. They also toured through the state, which is what the photos in the article are from. Words by Barker Barrett and photos by Dennis McGrath.

Daewon ollieing over Little Daniel

Here is a photo of Daewon Song ollieing over a recreation of his longtime friend Daniel Castillo, dubbed "Little Daniel". According to Daniel, Reda created the Little Daniel doll over three days in his New York apartment and spent over $100 on the materials. Daewon's ollie appeared in the Extra section of the June 2007 issue of Skateboarder. In the next issue, there was even a Face Off feature with the two Daniels.

Andrew Reynolds - nollie noseslide Cyclops Rail

The sequence of Andrew Reynolds's nollie noseslide on the Cyclops Rail in Atlanta, Georgia. Sequence shot by Brian Gaberman. This was published in the front of the October 2010 issue of Skateboarder, which also had a Stay Gold feature and a full Spanky interview. It's crazy to see how long Reynolds is in the air between the nollie and the noseslide. You can see the clip here or here

The Rise Above Rainfall: Portland

This article was written by Scott Koernor and is about the skater-friendly city of Portland, Oregon, featuring photos of some notable locals of that time (photos by Bryce Kanights and Garric Ray). Published in the May 2010 issue of Skateboarder.

Bobby Worrest interview - April 2005

A short interview with Bobby Worrest for the April 2005 issue of Skateboarder. Words by Alex Klein and photos by Jonathan Mehring.

Unbroken: The John Cardiel interview

This two-page interview from the April 2005 issue of Skateboarder came out roughly a year after John's injury that left him temporarily paralyzed. He explains the aftermath of the accident and his unlikely road to recovery. His story is eternally inspirational! Words by Alex Klein and photos by Gabe Morford. Here's a direct link to the February 2005 Antihero ad announcing his recovery - forever the best Antihero ad.

Optical Delusions

This is an interesting photo feature by Shad Lambert - for each photo, he tells a story related to the session when the photo was taken, or a brief story about the skater in the photograph. It includes a back story to Ragdoll's wallride in Slaughterhouse, although the photo in this doesn't appear to be the same as the make on video.

JB Gillet interview - March 2005

This Skateboarder interview came out shortly after JB got on Cliche and Lakai. Words by Alex Klein and photos by Oliver Chassignole.
